How to contribute to Stockhouse

We invite you to contribute to Stockhouse.com about investment topics and insights related to the capital markets. Your topic can be accepted for publication on Stockhouse or any other presentation on our web pages.

To sign up as a contributor on Stockhouse.com, please send an email request to submissions@stockhouse.com. with the following:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Your background and short description of qualifications
  • A comprehensive bio
  • A high-resolution image for your bio 

Please note to protect ourselves against potential liabilities, we reserve the right to request verification from Contributors to validate their identity.

By publishing content on Stockhouse.com, it is understood that you have consented to all the terms presented both on this page and on our terms and conditions page.

Contributors are expected to post original content on Stockhouse before it is available anywhere else, that content can then be posted elsewhere after 48 hours.

Stockhouse neither pays for guest posts nor charges for posting. However, you must meet our contributors’ guidelines to publish on our website.

What to write about

Our contributor program is designed to enhance collaboration with expert writers in the North American investment market, with a primary focus on Canada.

We encourage contributors to showcase their expertise by pitching ideas in small-cap investing, the Canadian stock market, investment guides, business, making money online, personal finance, current investment trends, economic impacts to the resource sector and more for evaluation.

Stockhouse is a leading small-cap investment forum in Canada, providing affluent investors a platform to discuss their investment insights and novice investors with the tools and resources they need to make sound investment decisions in the North American market.

By following these guidelines, you’ll play an integral role in creating engaging and relevant content for a large investor audience.

The most successful articles tend to be:

  • Lists (e.g., examples, tips, tools, tactics)
  • How-to articles/guides
  • Explainer posts (e.g., what is …/why x matters)
  • Expert roundups
  • Thought leadership
  • A solution to a problem

Always provide actionable tips and practical advice.

Share your own experiences. Don’t rely heavily on quoting influencers, experts, or authorities from other sites.

What not to write about

Stockhouse does not publish content about gambling, weapons and firearms, pornography, or other industries/topics that may violate Google’s content policies.

Stockhouse also does not publish sponsored content, if you were paid for the article, we will not repost it for free on Stockhouse, you can request a paid submission for $1,500 per article, which includes 24 hours exposure on our highest visibility sections, please contact submissions@stockhouse.com

Also, Stockhouse reserves the right to remove contributors at any time.

The following guidelines will apply to all guest posts:

  • Submission of your post does not guarantee publication. Your submission will be reviewed, and if it benefits our readers, it will likely be published.
  • All guest posts should offer investment, small-cap stocks, money-saving or innovative earning advice or ideas.
  • We reserve every right to alter/edit the submitted post before publishing.
  • Your post should not promote any product or service. Your post should not present a “visit my site” or “check out my product” feel.
  • Your post must not contain affiliate links.
  • Posts must be of original content (i.e. not published anywhere else online). Duplicate and plagiarized content will be rejected.
  • Your post must be a minimum of 1,000 words or more; 1,500 is more preferable. This is a strict criterion. 
  • Text formatting is encouraged; using bullets, lists, and short paragraphs makes reading easier.
  • Please make every effort to remove spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. Submissions that require excessive editing might get rejected.
  • Make sure any links in your post are relevant and valid. Dead or irrelevant links to the main idea of your post will be removed without notice.
  • Stockhouse does not offer any monetary compensation for guest posts.
  • All guest posts, after submission, will become the sole property of Stockhouse.
  • Visual content must match and help the reader to know the material. Images must have a similar format and size.


What if your post gets rejected?

We will approve any post we would like, even if many are stocked up and waiting to go live. We will only reject a post if we believe it is not a good fit for our website.

If your post gets rejected, we will explain why. You can communicate with our staff and determine what ideas would be a good fit. If you have a website, send the link, and we’ll get familiar with what you’re great at writing about. One of our finance experts could suggest a few ideas for you to consider writing instead.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices for content writers encompass several key strategies to ensure that your content ranks well in search engine results and attracts organic traffic. Here are some essential guidelines:

High-Quality Content: Create valuable, informative, and engaging content that addresses the needs and interests of your audience. Focus on providing unique insights, actionable tips, and solutions to their problems.

Optimize Headings and Structure: Organize your content using clear headings (H1, H2, H3, etc.) to improve readability and SEO. Incorporate relevant keywords naturally within headings and throughout the content.

Optimize Images: Use descriptive filenames and alt attributes for images to help search engines understand the content of your visuals. Compress images to improve page loading speed, which is also a ranking factor.

Internal Linking: Include relevant internal links (highlighting keywords) within your content to guide users to other relevant pages on your website. This helps search engines understand the structure of your site and improves user experience.

Create Evergreen Content: Aim to create content that remains relevant and valuable over time. Evergreen content attracts consistent traffic and can continue to rank well in search results for extended periods.

How to publish on Stockhouse

Haven’t published with WordPress before? Not to worry, we’ll show you step-by-step how to upload and publish your content on Stockhouse.com

By following the steps outlined below, you’ll be able to get your content published. In case you run into any issues publishing your content, please send an email to submissions@stockhouse.com.

Step 2 | Go to Posts > Add New

Once you are in the dashboard, go to Posts and select “Add New” from the dropdown.

Step 1: Sign in to our publishing backend.

Go to https://www.themarketonline.ca/wp-admin/ to login to your contributors backend.

Step 3 | Close the pop-up

Close the pop-up to use the editor.

Step 4 | Add your content

Choose the SH Article Type for Contributors, select a category, and enter your content into the editor field as shown below.

Step 5 | Enter keyword and publish

Enter the keyword of your content and select Publish.

Step 6 | Submit for review

Select Submit for Review. Our editor will receive a notification and proceed to review your content. If your submission aligns with our criteria, it will be published.

Step 7 | Preview

Click the View Preview link (bottom left) to review your article.

Step 8 | Article status

Log in to view the status of your content. Once your content is published, its status will be updated to Published.

Tips and suggestions

WordPress categories

Select at least one WordPress category for your article.

You have the option to choose up to two relevant categories (e.g., if your post pertains to both Finance and Technology).

Content title

Please take into account the following considerations when creating content titles.

  • Title should not be longer than 70 characters.
  • Include the primary keyword in your content topic.
  • Title should generate a positive or negative sentiment.

In-article links

Incorporating links to third-party authoritative sources demonstrates to readers that you are integrating external perspectives and evidence to bolster your argument. Otherwise, your argument may remain unsubstantiated.

To maintain the integrity of our content, our editorial team actively seeks to eliminate any links that appear promotional or self-serving. Specifically:

  • Avoid linking directly to company home pages for quotes or cited sources. Instead, it’s acceptable to link to sources’ Twitter handles, LinkedIn profiles, or similar bio pages.
  • Refrain from including self-promotional calls to action.
  • Do not link to gated content, which refers to pages requiring users to log in before accessing the content.
  • Any promotional or redundant links will be promptly removed by our editorial staff.
  • We retain the right to add rel="nofollow" attributes to any link or remove a link at any stage, before or after the article’s publication.
  • Links to websites related to pills/RX, pornography, gambling, or payday loans are strictly prohibited.

Formatting & grammar tips

  • Use H2 headings for your subheadings.
  • Use H3 headings for subsections within your subheadings. If further subdivision is necessary, use H4.
  • Refrain from using bold formatting within sentences.
  • Maintain a single space after punctuation marks.
  • URLs provided as examples (e.g., http://example.com) should be in plain text format, not hyperlinked.

Statistics

Incorporate recent and relevant statistics to enhance the authority and expertise of your piece. Avoid using statistics older than five years, as they are likely outdated.

  • Only link directly to the original source (such as a study or survey). Stats roundup posts or third-party infographics are not considered valid sources.
  • Ensure all statistics are properly attributed. If you cannot locate the source, refrain from using the statistic altogether.

Images

Including images in your submission is optional.

  • If you choose to include images, ensure they are original and permitted for use on Stockhouse. You may request specific photos from AdobeStock through our editors by providing the photo name(s) and file number(s).
  • When using stock performance chart images, prioritize Stockhouse over other sources.
  • Refrain from using stock images from free platforms such as Pixabay and Pexels.
  • All images must be in JPEG format.
  • The Stockhouse editorial team retains the right to replace or remove any images you include without prior notice before publication.
  • Image dimensions should be at least 1600 pixels wide and 1000 pixels tall.
  • Images must not exceed 100 KB in size.
  • If screenshots of a website or tool are necessary, include copyright information in the image’s caption.
  • Provide proper photo/image credits.
  • Optimize image file names. Avoid generic filenames like IMG_123454646572.png or screenshot3.png.
  • Always add Alternative Text, which can be the post title or a brief description of the photo relevant to the post’s topic.

Republishing content guidelines

To avoid duplicate content issues with Google, we permit content to be republished 48 hours after publishing on Stockhouse.

Content review and corrections

  • If we find out authors aren’t writing their posts, we reserve the right to reject or delete the post and prohibit the author from writing for Stockhouse in the future.
  • We may add a disclaimer at the end of any article to disclose any relationships (or lack thereof) that either Stockhouse or the author may have with organizations mentioned in the report.
  • In corrections to bylines, facts, or updates to published articles, Stockhouse reserves the right to edit any post at any time.
  • Please ensure that you thoroughly edit data, ideas, or text generated by AI so the words, concepts and creativity are yours alone.

Our publishing process

  • Our goal is ~24 to 48 hours from submitting your post’s draft to publication.
  • We regularly send a reminder email to alert contributors that their submission is due soon.
  • An editor will assess your submission and determine whether it fits. If so, the entire squad will analyze and converse about it. This ensures once a week.
  • The editor will gather the team’s response and give it to you with feedback. (We hardly accept an article the initial time, but we’ll tell you if we’re concerned.)
  • Once you’ve reviewed our comments, send your revised draft back. The crew will converse again and tell you if we need to accept it.
  • If we accept your post, an editor will schedule it for publishing and we’ll send you a system notification when your article is published on our website.
  • We strictly prohibit any attempt to infiltrate our website with malicious scripts. Should we detect such scripts in your content, we will promptly remove the content and proceed to ban and delete your profile from our website.

Your bio

To edit/update your profile or add a profile picture or image, please follow the steps below.

  • Click on “Profiles” from the left panel of your publishing dashboard.
  • Find the “Biography info” field to update your bio.
  • Add your social media handles in their corresponding fields.

To add a profile image, please click on “You can change your profile picture on Gravatar”. This will take your to https://gravatar.com/.

  • Sign up on Gravatar with the same email address you use on Stockhouse.
  • If you have an existing account on Gravatar with that email, please login and upload your preferred profile photo.
  • Come back to your publishing dashboard and you will see your profile image updated accordingly.
